Biserka Šuran war zwei Jahre alt, als ihre Familie aus dem ehemaligen Jugoslawien floh. Auf der Suche nach Antworten in einer verdrängten Vergangenheit lädt sie dreißig Jahre später ihren Vater zu einem Gespräch ein, um die Familiengeschichte, die Geschichte des Balkans und ihre eigene Identität zu ergründen.
In einer verlassenen Fabrik baut sie Kulissen für das Gesprächssetting auf. Requisiten aus dem ehemaligen Jugoslawien, Liebesbriefe und Anekdoten von Verwandten öffnen in SCÈNES MET MIJN VADER den Blick in die Vergangenheit und tragen dazu bei, einen Raum zu schaffen, der einen offenen Dialog zwischen Vater und Tochter ermöglicht. Es wird ein tiefsitzendes Familientrauma aufgedeckt, das eng mit der Geschichte Europas verstrickt ist.

BIOGRAPHY
Biserka Šuran (Koper, Yugoslavia, 1989) is a Dutch-Croatian film director, living and working in Amsterdam. In 2015 she graduated as a documentary director from the Netherlands Film Academy with the short Allez, Viens!. Scenes with My Father is her debut film and premiered at the IDFA festival in the Envision Competition in 2022 and won the award for ‚Best Documentary‘ at the Trieste Film Festival in Italy and the ‚FIPRESCI Award‘ at Beyond Borders festival in Greece.
