Mixer, Lampen, Schuhe: Im bis unters Dach angefüllten lagerhallengroßen Secondhandshop der beiden exzentrischen Pfandleiher Jola und Wiesiek gibt es alles, was das Herz begehrt. Die Zeiten in der einstigen Industriestadt Bytum sind hart und nicht selten wird der Shop zur Anlaufstelle für gestrandete Existenzen. Der drohende Konkurs trübt auch die Stimmung unter den Mitarbeiter*innen und die Beziehung von Jola und Wiesiek steht an der Kippe. Wiesiek unternimmt einen letzten Versuch, das Geschäft zu retten.
Das größte Pfandleihhaus Polens bildet die
Kulisse für diese Doku-Komödie voll schwarzem Humor. Mit feinem Gespür für
zwischenmenschliche Dynamiken gelingt Łukasz Kowalski ein herzhaft-witziger
Film vor einem tristen gesellschaftlichen Hintergrund.

BIOGRAPHY
Łukasz Kowalski – director, journalist, creator of television programmes. He graduated from the Department of Philology at the University of Silesia in Katowice and Wajda School in Warsaw.
Since 2007 he is professionally associated with TVP – Polish Television. Author of over 170 short documentary films and intervention and investigative reportages broadcast on many TVP channels. He won many awards in the most prestigious nation-wide journalist competitions.
Since 2018 co-owner of 4:30 Studio, a boutique production company based in Katowice.
He participated in many master classes, workshops, and professional trainings (also abroad) in the field of media and film direction.
