WÁSI (VER) – TO SEE
Sebastián Gómez Ruíz, Amado Villafaña Chaparro | Colombia 2017 | 16 Min. | OmeU
WÁSI tells the story of seeing and seeing oneself at the Arhuaco community from Kutunzama (Magdalena, Colombia). Through the Arhuaco filmmaker Amado Vilafaña himself, we learn what „wási“ means for his community. The film approaches different levels of presentation and representation by viewing film and photo-material. Shedding light on how Arhuaco are represented outside their community visually, how Amado interprets these and confronting us, the audience, by watching it. This short film touches the core of this year’s film festival “Whose story is it”.
