Coraci Ruiz accompanies the gender transition of her adolescent daughter with her camera and with it the conflicts, certainties, and uncertainties that she engages in during the search for her identity. In the 1960s, her mother had protested for women’s rights in Brazil. She desires to break through outdated paradigms and face her fears and prejudices because it is not only her daughter who is experiencing a transformation.
The autobiographic documentary THRESHOLD follows three generations of a family in their struggle for self-determination against the backdrop of the Brazilian government’s authoritarian rise.
