THE GUGA HUNTERS OF NESS
Mike Day | Scotland 2010 | 59 Min. | OmeU
Ness is the last place in the UK where gannets, known in Gaelic as Guga, are hunted for their meat. Once a year in August ten men from Ness set sail for Sula Sgeir, a desolate scottish island far out in the Atlantic, to bring back two thousand birds – a delicacy with an aquired taste. A rare glimpse into a long hidden hunting tradition.
