This time, the annual peace march in memory of the victims of the Srebrenica massacre takes place under strict Covid regulations. For the relatives and survivors, it is not only a nation’s commemoration of the deadliest genocide in Europe since the Nazi Holocaust, but also a personal search for meaning in coming to terms with the past. Joshua Jádi accompanies Behka, who wants to finish the walk for her brother, who disappeared while trying to bring Behka milkpowder for her newborn during the Bosnian war.
TRACES IN THE FOREST shows the lingering wounds of war and presents the importance of individual and collective memory to overcome the shadows of the past without forgetting them.

BIOGRAPHIES
Joshua Jádi, deutsch-ungarischer Filmemacher. Studiert Buch und Regie an der Filmakademie Wien. Seine Kurzfilme wurden international gezeigt und ausgezeichnet. Teilnahmen an Torino Script Lab, Sarajevo Talents und Summer School der Locarno Academy. Seit 2021 stellvertretender Programmdirektor des Film Festival Cottbus (DE).
Marius Ismael Mertens ist ein deutscher Filmemacher mit viel Erfahrung im Bereich Filmton und Sounddesign. Er studiert Buch & Regie sowie Filmton an der Filmakademie Wien. Er wirkte u.a. an Filmen von Terrence Malick, Adrian Goiginger und Simon Verhoeven mit.
Jakob Carl Sauer ist ein österreichischer Kameramann, der an der Filmakademie Wien bei Wolfgang Thaler studiert hat. Seine Filme wurden international auf Festivals gezeigt und ausgezeichnet.
