In the online short film programme IN BETWEEN five films tell of in-between worlds in which protagonists, places and feelings of belonging are in limbo. Freedom turns into threat and resistance is overcome. The protagonists move through the (in)visible and the familiar, experience at the bus stop the first taste of liberty after imprisonment or listen to the noise of the train tracks and feel the fleetingness of intimacy outside familiar spaces. They keep their heads above water even when orientation threatens to fail. Thus, in very personal moments, the five films convey border crossings in which the in-between can be as much a home as a springboard into the unknown.
