Graffiti, tags, murals, everyday wisdom, political slogans, and declarations of love… They are, as it were, fragments of memory and silent witnesses of a collective memory that expresses desires, longings, fantasies, and daydreams of those who inhabit urban centers. From the central shopping streets to the peripheral industrial areas of Belo Horizontes in Brazil, the visual discourse is inscribed on the walls of buildings, marking the landscape of the city.
As a visual experiment, PELE examines how public spaces are shaped by these manifestations and how they act upon the passers-by. The film directs the viewer’s gaze away from the fleetingness of everyday life to urban worlds of experience that are often overlooked but have the power to reveal complex images of society.

BIOGRAPHY
Director, screenwriter and independent producer, Marcos Pimentel has made creative documentaries has won 92 prizes at national and international film festivals and has had his work exhibited at over 700 festivals all over the world. PELE (SKIN) is his fifth full-length creative documentary. He lives and works in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
