Documentary film can add add a plurality of narratives and perspectives to politically charged socio-political topics that are incompletely discussed in a fragmentary manner and enrich the discourse on these topics with sensitizing, inspiring and critical contributions. But how does one bring socio-politically relevant films together with those who should see them? How can film promote public dialogues that have socio-political influence? What forms of collaboration and networking are needed to increase the impact and public awareness of socially critical film projects? And how can impact campaigns and impact producing raise awareness and bring about change?
Djamila Grandits discusses these and other questions on the production, reception and impact of documentary films with filmmaker and anthropologist Mariangela Mihai (Western Washington University), producer Sarah Nörenberg (Terra Mater), and director Chris Pellerin of EN ATTENDANT LE DÉLUGE.
Discussion is held in English.
