ORO BLANCO
Gisela Carbajal Rodríguez | Argentina, Germany 2018 | 24 Min. | OmeU
Austrian Premiere
Every morning Flora wanders through the Argentinian mountains with her Llamas to find pastureland. Still, the land grows more barren every month, making her animals struggle to find spots to feed on. A US-Canadian corporation settled down in the region of Salinas Grandes to mine lithium. Helping itself to the last water resources of the Atamaca and Kolla, the corporation seeks to satisfy the hunger of the world for rechargeable batteries.
Through a poetic and calm imagery, Oro Blanco tells of the livelihoods and fears of people in the tense atmosphere of exploitation and the continuity of traditions.
