When the old people die, we can go home –they told us.’ 10 years later, Maylin Malenio still works in the same household as an older woman’s caregiver. While one of them is waiting to die, the other one is longing for her life to finally begin. Walls are cracking, domestic objects come to life, and the limbo of waiting for the next stage in life is symbolised by the backdrop of a bus station.

Based on a recorded conversation, NOTHING SPECIAL simulates the two women’s attempt to escape the inevitabilities of life while they realise that ‘nothing’ can sometimes be something special.
