Dying palm trees in Mexico City invite us to explore a withering dream. The plant once made it into the city as a symbol of an envisioned paradise. In the metropolis, they lined magnificent colonial buildings and brought places of distant longing to the city. Today, the façade is crumbling and the palm trees’ hollow trunks in LA SOMBRA DE LAS PALERMAS whisper the story of colonialism, capitalism, and climate change.
