GO THERE – DON’T KNOW WHERE, FIND THAT DON’T KNOW WHAT
Serezha Kuznetsov | Russia 2014 | 80 Min. | OmeU
Getting to know the country where one was born and lives, apart from mainstream television broadcasts, stereotypes and police reports, was the initial ambition of filmmaker Serezha Kuznetsov when he started his unusual roadtrip from Moscow to Vladivostok. With a budget of 100 Rubles per day (~1,50 €) and no time-limit, Kuznetsov hitchhiked over 9000 km across Russia. He portrayed his journey and the people who crossed his path. With some he spent some days, with others only a few hours. The outcome is an entertaining and diversified roadtrip-movie, showing a delightfully colourful and varied picture of Russia, unlike the normal political and media stereotypes. Or, to sum up with Kuznetsov’s own words: “This is a movie from Russia. But without war. Without policy. Only art, peace and love.”
