ELECTRO
Matei-Alexandru Mocanu | Romania 2006 | 52 Min. | OmeU
Electro is the first Romanian documentary that tries to define the notion of an ‘electro community’: attitudes, values, ways of manifestation, artists, fans, and promoters. The scene is that of Bucharest, considered to be the most effervescent and eclectic city for the Romanian electro subculture. Significant members of the community discuss issues of Internet piracy, lack of electro-based music labels, elitism, self-sufficiency, amateurism, foreign musical acts playing in Romania, the differences among electronica sub-genres, VJs, DJs, drugs, private parties, the conditions of producers and the public, and most importantly, the rapport between the Romanian movement and its foreign counterparts.
