Lisette Ma Neza weaves an audiovisual collage from songs, photographs, and interviews to create a poetic conversation with five women from different diasporas. They talk about leaving the places where they were born, about arrival, and about (never really) arriving. From the embers of violence they experienced, they found new strength in the diaspora and stand tall before the camera.
BRANDEN is a collective poem about leaving one’s homeland, and about the fires and smoke of armed conflicts that turn people into refugees.

BIOGRAPHY
Lisette Ma Neza (Netherlands, 1997) is a poet with a camera. Her artistic practice is a constant attempt to translate herself and others. She transmutes the lives and feelings of the displaced, survivors of great violence, of Africans in Europe, of diasporas, of women… This research results in poetic essays, spoken word, film and theatre.
