Au Cimetière de la Pellicule is a 2023 documentary directed by Thierno Souleymane Diallo. The film follows Diallo’s quest to locate ‘Mouramani’, a 1953 film by Mamadou Touré, considered the first film made by a Francophone African director. Traversing Guinea’s abandoned cinemas and decaying film archives, Diallo uncovers the nation’s rich cinematic heritage and confronts the challenges of preserving cultural memory in the face of neglect and political upheaval.

Diallo’s journey highlights the importance of film archives and the enduring impact of colonialism on African cinema.Au Cimetière de la Pellicule serves as both a personal pilgrimage and a poignant exploration of Guinea’s film history.
