‘The stars are a part of us and we are a part of them.’ When Wilfred Buck looks up at the night sky, he sees the wisdom of ancestral knowledge, traditions and the history of the Cree, a history of resistance to colonial oppression. Like Wilfred, whose life has been marked by marginalisation and exclusion, his community also finds healing for the wounds of the past in the cosmological whole. Today, as a spiritual leader, he passes on the traditional values and the knowledge of the ancestors to a new generation.

Lisa Jackson follows the free and creative spirit of this charismatic protagonist, creating a compelling work that oscillates between past and present, the earth and the stars, in order to overcome the ghosts of colonialism.
