Victoria and Siaka want to build a life together in Vienna and start a family. Everyday experiences of racism, the hurdles of Austrian bureaucracy, Siaka’s precarious job situation and the traumatic memories of fleeing The Gambia all challenge their relationship. Siaka is tired of keeping silent about his pain and the continuing discrimination he encounters.
Over the course of a year, Ivette Löcker follows the couple as their longing for carefree love and a sense of belonging is thwarted by cultural differences and social exclusion. OUR TIME WILL COME is an intimate portrait of a relationship that shakes up hegemonic notions and confronts social prejudices.
